Oh WOW!, a bow tie shirt, Smashing!

We’ve been a little obsessed with the BBC show Skins lately.  It is way better then anything we’ve seen on American TV.   The styling is brillant, I’ve seen a lot of beautiful items I recognize as UK brands, like shoes from Toast.

Our favorite character is Cassie, shown on the far right in a trompe l’oeil shirt by Top Shop.  Which got us thinking about how much we adore trompe l’oeil bow tie shirts, like the one we carry in the shop, by Iefke de Roos (middle picture).  Another lovely example is this shirt (first one pictured) by Pretty Raccoon.

trompe l’oeil

Words can’t express how excited I am to see these trompe l’oeil pieces from Sonia Rykiel’s spring collection. (above in sunny yellow) I’ve been wanting to incorporate bits of this into my designs ever since I first discovered Roberta di Camerino’s dresses from the 60’s and 70’s. I’m not sure how yet but, you will see this influence in Makool sometime in the future. You can view Sonia’s line at Style.com.

This red dress is a Roberta di Camerino, dress from the March, 07 issue of Domino, I’m so very envious of this vintage find.
